PEACE AND ORDER


 Is an essential ingredient to maintaining economic
development, social order and political stability.

 A condition of peace and order facilitates the growth of


investments, generates more employment opportunities
and attracts more tourists.
 It is the most important tools that a country or a nation
must have.
LAWS AND POLICIES
Republic Act No. 6975:
AN ACT ESTABLISHING THE PHILIPPINE NATIONAL POLICE UNDER A
REORGANIZED DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR AND LOCAL
GOVERNMENT, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
SECTION 1. Title of the Act. — This Act shall be known as the “Department of
the Interior and Local Government Act of 1990.”
SECTION 2. Declaration of Policy. — the State to promote peace and order with
in the country and its authority is hold by the Philippine National Police
without the intervention of Armed forces of the Philippines.

SECTION 3. Promulgation of Comprehensive Policies by Congress. —


The President shall recommend to Congress the promulgation of
policies on public order and safety to protect the citizenry from all
forms of lawlessness, criminality and other threats to peace and order.

PNP
The PNP’s Mandate
• Republic Act No. 6975 entitled An Act Establishing the
Philippine National Police under a reorganized Department
of the Interior and Local Government and other purposes as
amended by RA 8551 Philippine National Police Reform and
Reorganization Act of 1998 and further amended by RA
9708.
The PNP’s Mission
• The PNP shall enforce the law. Prevent and control crimes, maintain peace and
order and ensure public safety and internal security with the active support of the
community.

The PNP’s Functions


• Law Enforcement.
• Maintain peace and order.
• Prevents and investigates crimes and bring offenders to justice.
• Detain an arrested person for a period not beyond that is prescribed by law.
• Implements pertinent laws and regulations on firearms and explosives control
• Supervise and control the training and operations of security agencies
