Introduction What is the problem about? Introduction Introduction The problem investigated in this project is the determination of displacements of each level of a simple building represented by a single degree of freedom system during an earthquake. Solving the problem consists of a combination of Rayleigh’s method and Response Spectrum Analysis. Rayleigh’s Method enables the approximation of the Spatial Shape Function ϕ(x) as well as the fundamental period of vibration (T) of a simple building. Response Spectrum Analysis, on the other hand, allows the approximation the Base Shear, Overturning Moment, and Displacements per floor. Introduction GUI Description What is the purpose of the GUI?
