AQUATIC TECH PARK

(ORNAMENTAL FISHERIES)
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of the Aquatic Tech park is to provide an active
ecological education facility . The Aquarium center will
accomplish active education in the following ways: first,
through the display of large numbers of interacting species of
aquatic life in tanks immense enough that natural habitats,
ecological processes, and natural group behavior of these
species may be observed in a surrealistic manner. Second, with
the creation of an environment that both allows and
encourages visitor participation within the aquatic center
through visual, audible, and emotional involvement. Third, by
providing the recreational aspect of viewing exhibits and
displays of aquatic life processes through logical uni
directional circulation patterns. Fourth, by emphasizing the
association with water as an ecological, life—giving, and
renewable resource rather than simply a display media.
Conclusively, the new Aquarium will demonstrate that the
abundance of life on the earth is highly dependent on the
proper conservation of water and its natural resources.
ISSUES
PROBLEMS
The largest foreseeable problem of the Aquarium facility will
be the controversy created when is having an especially dry
summer and water rationing is put into affect. The general
public may begin to question just how much water is actually
used in the maintenance and upkeep of the facility.

NEEDS
The facility itself must come to be recognized as an active
and everchanging "ecological" process. Exhibits must not be
allowed to become stale but renewed and improved as well
as maintained. New developments in the aquarium industry
each year are substantial. Therefore, the facility must be
versatile enough that better technologies may be adapted
to the exhibits and their surrounding spaces. This will also
help keep the Aquarium from becoming dull to frequent
visitors.
GOALS
The facility will create an intense, exciting, informative and
therefore positive atmosphere where the general public may
come to learn.

The facility will exhibit an applicable presentation of

conservation techniques rather than merely exotic displays of
aquatic life.

The facility would help for the marketing industries of

wholesale/ retail/suppliers for the economy

The facility would enhance the aquatic breeding for trade in

large numbers and preventing the exotic species

OBJECTIVES
To display aquatic life in a surrealistic manner.

To provide a uni-directional circulation pattern so that the

exhibits are cohesive to the one preceding and the one
after.

To provide barrier free access throughout the entire

faci1ity.

To exhibit, maintain, and propagate a general collection of

aquatic life.

To provide conservation techniques to the general public

To provide an active research facility dedicated to the

preservation of aquatic life.
Why Market?
Markets are of fundamental importance in the livelihood
statergy of most households ,rich and poor alike . Markets are
Where producers they buy their inputs and sell their products
And where as consumers they spend their income from the
sale of crops or from their non-agricultural activities to buy
requirements . Markets of varying types can spontaneously
arise whenever a party has interest in a good or service that
come other party can provide

Why ornamental fish market?

It can be dedicated to the wholesale trade between traders ,
breeders and to the sale of fish for individual consumers
or to the both retail fish markets, a type of wet
Market often can sale it accessories. Fish markets range in size
From small shops to great big fish shops where they can deal
With import and export

Revival of kolathur fish market?

Problem factors?

As Dengue is the main problem As its been located in residence

because of lack of contamination zone as the water scarcity occurs in
and lack of maintanence summer for the residential and the
commercial

Wastage disposal As the commercial

electricity costs high

What to they really need?

Storage space Recyling material

Water treatment Research Exhibition gallery

Mora River Aquarium / PROMONTORIO

The River Aquarium is located in Mora, a small

municipality in the Northern Alentejo region. Given
the need to shift regional development from the
dependence of an increasingly weaker agriculture
economy into the environmental tourism and leisure
market, the municipality launched a design-and-build
competition for an aquarium that could somehow
embody the paradigms of biodiversity of the Iberian
river. Integrated in the Ecological Wild Park of
Gameiro and bordering the Raia stream, the building
stands amidst a secluded field of cork and olive trees
removed from the more intense leisure and fishing
activities of the river. The plot's gently undulating
topography forms a basin at the confluence of two
small watercourses. Placing the aquarium at the
edge of this quasi-natural retaining lake brought
together the fundamental relation between its
thematic contents and the presence of fresh water.
The live exhibits, the main feature of an aquarium,
reproduce, through complex life support systems, the habitat
conditions of different regions allowing to exhibit side-by-
side the various animals and plants. On the basement, these
support systems guaranty stability of water temperature, ph,
quality control and filtering for each habitat parameter,
including a duct gallery below each exhibit to supply and
monitor the water. For this building, the water is taken from
a well on the plot, pumped into a deposit and regenerated
after use. In addition, areas for animal quarantine, food
preparation, laboratories, staff facilities, and logistics
complete the technical floor.
Other than the in-situ concrete cast plinth and the white pre-
cast porticoes, the programme boxes are built in polished
finish plastered terracotta masonry with steel frames and
varnished MDF carpentry. With a total built area of 2000 sq.-
m, the Mora River Aquarium includes more than 500 live
specimens and is expected to receive 200,000 visitors per
year.
BESIKTAS FISH MARKET in Istanbul
The refurbishment of the Besiktas Fish Market is not a
design and realization process that was prosecuted in
an accustomed manner. It is not intended to be
carried through to an in-computable state. On the
contrary, the aspiration is to initiate a dynamic outset
by the gradual functional supplements and
substitutions and even with the immediate effects of
artistic approaches.

The architectural decisions were constituted with a

simplistic approach to form and solutions, in order to
allow and welcome revolution in this 26×23/2
triangular space which can subsist with temporary
art installations and elements that, only in the course
of time, generate themselves through the medium of
color, texture and light.
The space mimics a piece of cloth lifted from the corners
or a seashell. A junction of three roads thrives with
transverse movements. Furthermore the ceiling has been
kept high increasing the openness and view capacity of
the restaurants. This visual linkage spontaneously
promotes an invitation both towards the inside and
outsideBesides the fishmongers, greengrocers have been
placed under this shell and furthermore during the
restricted fishing seasons other products are put on sale.
In the near future it is anticipated to have florists along
the main road. This opportunity has been offered to the
tradesmen with lesser stalls by the other tradesmen. The
necessity of precise refinements observed during the
opening period will be resolved by arrangements
amongst the tradesmen and restaurant owners, taking
advantage of the next restricted fishing season. On the
other hand sharing insight on the restricted functioning
domain of the daily or professional design-manufacturing
