WHAT IS ART?

ART
• Is a tool for communication.
• Venue for one to convey or express thoughts,
emotions, or aspirations.
• Every artwork reflects the artist and his society.
ART
• It is produced by human creativity
and skills to express oneself.
• It comes in many forms or disciplines but
the most familiar are visual and
performing arts.
VISUAL ARTS
Visual arts include the different art
forms and disciplines such as:

FINE ARTS
The term “fine arts” was first used to
describe the art forms created a
primarily for their appearance
rather than their practical use.

DECORATIVE ARTS
• Also known as decorative crafts.
• Artworks that are both aesthetically pleasing
and functional.
• While the fine arts are primarily concerned with
beauty and aesthetically, the decorative arts
are not only beautiful but are useful as well.

into a painting or composition.
INSTALLATION
The term installation
art is used to describe
large- scale, mixed-media
constructions, often
designed for a specific
place or for a temporary
period of time.
DIGITAL ART
It is used to describe
art that is made or
presented using digital
technology
LAND ART
An art that is made
directly in landscape,
sculpting the land itself into
earthworks or making
structures in the landscape
using natural materials such
as rocks or twigs.
CONCEPTUAL
ART
Is art for which the idea
(or concept) behind the
work is more important
than the finished art object.
