of urban porpulence and providing greenry to the
delhites along the natural surroundings.

tried in transforming a sanitary landfill
site into living,breathing and verdant
landscapes.
Z
Stretching 2.7 km along the ring road,(from ashram to
i.t.o),the park is punctuated by the railway line in the rear
and lies between the ISBT , SARAI KALE KHAN and
BHAIRON road.
The park is situated just after the junction of national

The project was divided between the

MCD(22 acres) and DDA(60 acers).

MCD is responsible for the

greenry development ,while as
DDA is for civil beautification.

According to the director of

horticulture,Y.P. SINGH ,DDA ,they had
to fill 2-5 ft. of soil on the site to enable
plantation.

From the point of

view of
maintaining these
plants and
trees,they chose
hardy varieties
which require less
water.

Variety of trees Contrast in plantation

 It was difficult for the plantation due to the methane gas

trapped in the soil.

 The remedy was to insert a plastic hose pipe along

with the saplings to escape gas.

small or big and get a glimpse of
sky and the smell of the
earth,trees and flowers then the
overwhelming scale and density
of urban life can be largely
overcome.
