 Obtain blood sample for screening of total iron binding


capacity, hemoglobin, hematocrit electrolytes,etc.
 Obtain urine sample for screening of specific gravity

 Test cognitive function
 Note alterations in mood, behavior, cognition, LOC
 Ask about changes in mood or cognition

Anthropometric Measurement
 Measure and ask about changes in height and weight
 Determine triceps skinfold measurement (TSM)
 Measure the midarm circumference (MC)
High doses of: Can cause:

Vitamin D Calcium deposits in kidneys and


arteries

Vitamin K Blood clots

Folic aid Masking of Vitamin B12 deficiency

Calcium Renal calculi; impairment of ability


to absorb other minerals
