What is Aeronautical Engineering?

 This engineering field deals with the creation, design, and

maintenance of travel machines, including airplanes
missiles, helicopters, satellites and spacecraft. They not
only create the machines but also use their knowledge of
technology and aviation to create the most energy-
efficient machines on the market.

 There is one major difference between the aeronautical

and aerospace engineering. Aeronautical engineering
focuses mostly on flight and flight activities with an
atmosphere while aerospace engineering may also
include activities within an atmosphere, but it also focuses
on space applications where there is no atmosphere.
How to become an Aeronautical Engineer

 To become an aeronautical engineer, an individual must earn a bachelor's degree

program in aeronautical engineering or aerospace engineering. These programs
generally take four to five years to complete and must be accredited by
the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology

 Before graduating, students must pass two engineering examinations. Passing the first
exam, the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, allows the candidate to work as an
engineer in training. After passing this exam and obtaining four years of on-the-job
training the engineer can take the Professional Engineer exam.
How to become an Aeronautical Engineer

 While completing their assignments, students may be

responsible for simulating flight and modifying areas for
designs that might not function well. In the later stages of
this course, students may alter models, test designs and
prepare class presentations.

 EIT’s must also complete a minimum of four years on the job

training after which they take the PE exam to become
professional aeronautical engineer.
Basic Salary

engineers who works in
America earned a average
yearly salary of about 104,000
dollars, according to the
Bureau of Labor Statistics
 Majority of aerospace
engineers made between
81,000 dollars and 125,000
dollars per year,
 The highest-earning 10
percent of all aerospace
engineers surveyed came up
to around 147,000 dollars
More about this occupation

 Jobs are limited for this field since the air and space industry is a small one.
Companies like Boeing need only a few airplanes designed

 Aerospace engineers usually work for the federal government or manufacturing

industries. A few work for NASA. Engineers generally work in an office environment.
