nadadaog; napupurisaw kami, alagad dai kami nawawaran

nin paglaom.
9 Pinepersegir kami alagad dai kami pinababayaan;
natutumba kami, alagad dai nagagadan.
kagadanan ni Jesus tanganing an saiyang buhay mahayag
sa samong mga hawak.
11 Sa bilog ming pagkabuhay, danay kaming nasa pag-alaman
nin kagadanan huli ki Jesus, tanganing an saiyang buhay
mahayag sa hawak ming ini na may kagadanan.
12 Kaya mantang kami dikit-dikit na nagagadan, kamo
nagkakaigwa nin buhay.
13 Nasasabi sa kasuratan, “Nagtutubod ako, kaya ako
nataram.” Igwa man kami kun siring na espiritu nin
pagtubod, kaya nagtataram man kami.
Kagurangnan iyo man an mabuhay liwat samo kaiba ni
Jesus, asin iyo man an madara samo kaiba nindo sa
atubangan niya.
magdakul man an magpapasalamat para sa kamurawayan
nin Dios.
16 Kaya dai nanluluya an samuyang boot. Maski ngani an
samong hawak pinanluluya na, alagad an samong espiritu
pinapakosog oroaldaw.
New Year’s Day is a great time for reflection. We
reflect on the past year with hope of a better year
ahead. It seems as we come to the close of the year we
are weary and burned out, but New Year’s seems to
bring renewed hope and excitement for things to
come. We usually respond to that renewed hope and
excitement with much ambition.
Often that ambition causes us to set some lofty
goals for the year ahead, or as we call them New
Year’s resolutions. Some people set goals to quit bad
habits such as smoking. Others set goals to start good
habits like eating healthier, or exercising more.
Unfortunately, that ambition quickly dwindles and
by February our mindset becomes “it’s just another
year!”
What if we could maintain that initial level of
hope and excitement that occurs on New Year’s
Day? I believe that we can, but in order to do so we
must change our approach. Rather than set lofty
goals for the entire year we should set obtainable
goals for each day. The problem with New Year’s
resolutions is that when we miss the mark one day
we give up for the year. If we set daily goals and fail
we can say “tomorrow is a new day.”
Our hope and excitement needs to be renewed
daily! One encouraging thought is that God renews
His mercy towards us daily.
Lamentations 3:22-23 It is of the Lord’s mercies
that we are not consumed, because his compassions
fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy
faithfulness.
22 Mayo nin kataposan an pagkamoot asin
pagkaherak nin Kagurangnan,
23 danay na bago iyan siring sa kaagahon,
masasarigan siring sa pagsirang kan aldaw.
That means we shouldn’t allow the failures of
today affect our tomorrow. We should be encouraged
to be renewed for the new year, but we need to be
renewed daily in order to maintain our hope and
excitement.

2 Corinthians 4:8-16
Lead in: Verse 16 of our text is the key for us to be
renewed for the new year. “For which cause we faint
not; but though our outward man perish, yet the
inward man is renewed day by day.” It must be our
prayer be renewed that God’s people for the new
year. We pray that we are…
a. Although, it would be nice if each of us were
renewed in our physical bodies that is not what we
mean when we say that we pray that we are renewed
in The Body.

b. We are praying that God’s people are renewed in The

Body of Christ! That means that we are praying for
revival to take place in each of the Lord’s churches,
especially Bethel!

c. For that to happen God’s people need to be renewed!

d. We need to be renewed in…

1. Our worship
2. Our works
3. Our witness
e. Being renewed in our worship means that rather
than going through the routine of mouthing a few
hymns that we rekindle the passion in our worship.

f. God has been good to His people, but we couldn’t

tell if we were judging by the worship services of
many of His churches.

g. Can any of us tell the last time we truly heard God

praised in His church? If God’s people can’t get
excited about God how are the lost ever going to?

SUMALI TAYO AT SUMANGKOT
Exodus 20:18 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it
holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the
seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God…”

Here are some don’ts when we go to church:

Do not just go to listen.
Do not just go to be seen.
Do not just go aimlessly.
Rather go to church to be called, to be touched, and
to be healed by God. Kung pupunta tayo sa church para
sumamba, dapat mayroon tayong goal. Kailangang
mayroon tayong expectation at malinaw na
willingness to be changed by God.
Sumamba tayo, una, dahil dapat na sambahin
ang Panginoon. Gusto rin nating may nadadagdag sa
ating kaalaman, may nababawas sa ating kahinaan,
at higit tayong napapalapit sa Dios. Nagniningning
sulok.
Maraming nagiging
mabubuting bunga ang active participation sa
church life.
Going to church is not a perfunctory or a
mechanical activity. Kailangang handa tayo sa
mangyayari sa atin dahil mayroon. Sumali tayo at
sumangkot.
h. Being renewed in our works means that we perform
good works to glorify God.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that

they may see your good works, and glorify your Father
which is in heaven.
16 Dapat arog kamo kaiyan. Paliwanagon
nindo an saindong ilaw sa gabos na tawo,
tanganing mahiling ninda an mga marahay
nindong gibo; huli kaiyan oomawon ninda an
saindong Ama na nasa langit.”
i. We often say that we pray that “for Bethel to be a
lighthouse”, but that will never happen if we aren’t
shining our light!

j. The most effective way for God’s people to be

renewed in The Body is for us to be renewed in our
witness.

k. Witnessing to those who are lost is supposed to be

the main focus of a church. Unfortunately, it is often
the most neglected activity in the lives of believers.
l. If we want people to come to Christ we must share the
Gospel. We must be renewed in our witness!
Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom
they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him
of whom they have not heard? and how shall they
hear without a preacher?
14 Alagad paano sindang mag-apod saiya kun dai
man sinda nagtutubod? Paano sindang magtubod
kun dai pa ninda nadadangog an dapit saiya? Paano
man nindang madangog kun mayo nin naghuhulit.

m. We’re not only praying that God’s people be renewed in

The Body but, we are also praying that His people will be…
a. Notice that we didn’t say that we’re praying for us to be
renewed in our spirit. We’re praying that we would be
renewed in The Spirit!
b. To be renewed in The Spirit we must stop quenching
The Spirit.

1st Thessalonians 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.

19 Dai nindo olangon an Espiritu Santo.
c. When the word “quench” is used in Scripture, it is
speaking of suppressing fire. When believers put on
the shield of faith, as part of their armor of God
(Ephesians 6:16), they are extinguishing the power
of the fiery darts from Satan.
16 Sa gabos na oras , daraha nindo an
pagtubod bilang kalasag, tanganing masigbo an
mga nagkakalayong pana kan Maraot.

d. Jesus described hell as a place where the fire would

not be “quenched” (Mark 9:44, 46, 48).
44, 46, 48 Duman ‘an mga olod sa saindang
hawak dai nanggad magagadan asin an kalayo
dai nanggad masisigbo.’
e. Likewise, the Holy Spirit is a fire dwelling in
each believer. He wants to express Himself in our
actions and attitudes.

f. When believers do not allow the Spirit to be seen

in our actions, when we do what we know is wrong,
we quench the Spirit.

g. The problem with most of us is that rather than

allowing the Fire to burn bright we act as spiritual
fire extinguishers.
h. We must allow The Holy Spirit to direct our lives
and walk in His ways. When we walk in His ways we
will overcome temptations, and produce the fruit of
the Spirit.
Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the
Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance:
16 Ini an sinasabi ko: mamuhay kamo sa
Espiritu; dai nindo pagsunudon an mga
kamawotan kan laman.
i. We’ve seen that for God’s people to be renewed for
the new year we must be…
1. 1. Renewed in The Body- by getting excited in
our worship, our works, and our witness. We must
be…

2. 2. Renewed in The Spirit- by walking in The

Spirit and producing fruit.

Finally we must be...

a. Most of us won’t admit it, but we all have a thinking
problem.

b. We allow thoughts that we shouldn’t fill our minds. We

need to be renewed in our minds.
Ephesians 4:22-24 That ye put off concerning the
former conversation the old man, which is corrupt
according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the
spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man,
which after God is created in righteousness
and true holiness.
22 Kaya hubaon na nindo an daan na pagkatawo na
pinaraot kan saindong mga marumpot na
kamawotan. 23 Kaipuhan magin bago an saindong
piso asin isip. 24 Bagong pagkatawo na an iribay
c. Renewing our minds takes effort on our part. We have to
“put off” our old self and “put on” the new man.

d. We must purge our mind of worldly thoughts and think

on heavenly thoughts.
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are
true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are
just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are
lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be
any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these
things.
matanos, malinig, maninigong kamotan asin
galangan.
e. Thoughts become plans and plans become actions.
Ultimately, how we think is how we will behave.

f. All believers should be out of their minds and be in the

mind of Christ. We need to think like Jesus!
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in
Christ Jesus:
5 Arogon nindo an ginibo ni Cristo.

h. We can renew our minds by studying God’s Word, and

guarding the things that we allow into our minds.

i. We pray that each of us will be renewed for the new year.

A blessed Sunday everyone!

May we be renewed for the New

Year!
