HAMAD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (FURTHER - HIA) IS ONE OF
THE NEWEST MAJOR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTS, OPENING IN
2014

that this airport is
new, it is already
considered as one
of the best
airports according
to Skytrax and
many other
magazines.
HIA is a major
international airport
located in Doha, the
capital city of Qatar. New
HIA is located about 4
km southest of downtown
Doha. It operates as a
main Hub for Qatar
Airways, Qatar Airways
Cargo, Qatar Executive.
It has an annual capacity
of 40 million passengers.
Over 50 airlines operate
out of the airport to over
150 destinations across
all six inhabited
continents.
 The airport has an oasis theme. Many of the buildings have a water
motif, with wave-styled roofs and desert plants growing in recycled
water.The airport is built over 22 square kilometres , half of which
is on reclaimed land.

The most prominent figure inside the airport
is a giant bronze statue of a teddy bear with
its head in a lamp. The untitled sculpture,
often known as "Lamp Bear", is one of three
creations by Swiss artist Urs Fischer and is
on display at the airport's shopping hall.
In 2018 the airport added a new
sculpture in their terminal, called Small
Lie by American artist Kaws which was
a donation from the Qatar Museum.
The airport, located on an area of ​more than 200 hectares (about a
third of the total area of ​the city of Doha), has two runways located at
a distance of 2 km from each other, which allows for independent use
of both airport lanes.

 The land is man made
 Over 60% of the land the new airport sits on is reclaimed. The sea was buried so
that the airport could sit where it does and not disturb the area around it.
