A work at home scheme is a get rich quick scam
in which a victim is lured by an offer to be
employed at home.
Very often doing some simple task in a minimal
amount of time with a large amount of income
that far exceeds the market rate for the type of
work.
In some countries, law enforcement agencies
work to fight work at home schemes.

actions by the FTC, the Department of Justice, the United
States Postal Inspection Service, and law enforcement
agencies in eleven states.
In 2006, the United States Federal Trade
Commission established Project False Hopes, a
federal and state law enforcement sweep that
targets bogus business opportunity and work at
home scams.
ADVANTAGES
Be more relaxed - because no one is controlling them as they are

usually their own boss.

Be more organized - because they have to plan their everyday in

order to finish everything on time.

Have more time for their family and children as they don't need to

spend time on travelling and preparing to work.

By working at home you save on many hidden costs associated with

going to work.

Often you can also save on older children’s care arrangements although

for younger children.

These include costs of commuting, car wear and tear, fuel, road taxes,

parking as well as indirect costs.


DISADVANTAGE
Often, professionals working from home complain of isolation and loneliness given

their removal from their bosses and coworkers and th is can be very depressing to

some.

Since the workplace provides a location to meet people and make friends for many,

professionals working from home have to be more creative and resourceful in

getting to know people and in staying in touch with them.

The temptation to engage in household matters since you are at home is often very

strong.

Loss of money: It may be only the initial fee to join, which may be a large or
small amount. Some scammers will run after receiving just this fee. Others
will continue to ask for more in order for the promise of high pay to be
fulfilled.

Loss of legitimate job: Those with a real job may quit in hopes of a better
one, only to find they cannot get their original job back after they discover
their dream job was only a hoax.

Damaged reputation: Those who engage in sales of a faulty or otherwise


controversial product may be tarnishing their own name as the salesperson
of such a worthless item.
CONCLUSION
When considering working from home, it’s important not to be put off by

the disadvantages. However, it’s worth considering whether working from

home would be the right fit for you. It is also worth thinking about which

of these disadvantages would concern your employer if you were to

propose the idea to them.
