God-Given Responsibility
Our children are the most valuable
possession given to us by God, and we feel
that home education is the best stewardship
of that gift.

• “The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the
Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and
with all your strength. And these words which I com-
mand you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach
them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them
when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way,
when you lie down, and when you rise up” (Deut. 6:4-5).
• All day long
• As opportunity presents itself
• Why would I give the responsibility to
someone else?
• We can teach from a Christian/Biblical
world view—every subject in light of the
Bible.
• Creation/evolution science books do not
hinder test scores
• No one knows my child better or loves him
more.
Positive Social Context
of the Family
• We want our children to be spiritually minded,
always placing more value on family/home and
spiritual matters than worldly concerns.

• We want them to be “family dependent” rather than

“peer dependent”.

• 3 Rs—Relationships, Reasoning skills (based on

the Bible), Resolve
• Spending more time together as a family doesn’t
hurt, but helps those relationships.

• Reflection our children give us needs to be the

example we are setting as parents, not reflections
of others.

• Sibling friendships
Individualized instruction

– We want to give
them as much time as
possible to pursue
their own interests
without taking away
from family time.
There is little to no
wasted time with
home education.
• How valuable it would be to a child later
in his/her life if they can have time early
on to improve upon skills that they enjoy.

• Special interests – sports, music, foreign

language, cooking, automotives, sewing,
art, child care – can be given much more
time.

• Interest in a foreign country could turn

into mission work down the road.

• Very few distractions at home.

“With homeschooling, I feel I am giving my kids a gift
– and I am thankful for the freedom. My children can
learn at the level right for them, maintain friendships
and socialize with kids of all ages, and not feel
burdened by unreasonable expectations or be
allowed to become ‘lazy’ if they can excel beyond
their ‘grade’ level.” –Pioneer Woman

• NO HOMEWORK
Instill a Love of Learning
• When learning is fun to a child, his possibilities are
endless.
• “He is educated who knows how to find out what he
doesn’t know.”-George Simmel

• Five In A Row
Enjoying Real Life Experiences
Provides a Wholesome
Environment
• Especially in the elementary and middle
school years, we want to be able to
monitor what and who they are exposed to
as much as possible.

• Proverbs 4:23 – “Above all else, guard

your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”
This World Is Changing

There is more in the world now for children

to be confronted with at younger ages than
ever before. Home education gives them
freedom from many of those worries, and
a stronger foundation for when they
confront them later.
• “Good homeschooling is not isolationism
for it’s own sake, but instead is a controlled
buffer ‘against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness
of this age.’” (Eph. 6:12)- Cheryl Cozort
• Liberal agenda 3Rs –
Relativism
Rebellion
R-rated lifestyle

Make them aware of the evil in the world,

but give them confidence and guidance to
deal with it.
Increasing Numbers and
More Support
• More and more Christians are choosing
this path. Lord willing, our children will
have more and more peers whose parents
have chosen same lifestyle.
• “The number of homeschooled kids hit
1.5 million in 2007, up 74% from when
the Department of Education’s National
Center for Education Statistics started
keeping track in 1999.”—USA Today
