Hormone : Definition

Endocrinology is medical science that


studies hormones and communication
between cells in the body.

Hormones are chemical substances that are


produced by the appendix which are then
flowed directly into the bloodstream through
the process of endocrine secretion.
Inter-cell signaling mechanism

Hormones are secreted (usually into the bloodstream) by a collection of


glands in the body called the "endocrine system." The main glands that make
up the endocrine system include the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, thyroid
and parathyroid, adrenaline, the pineal body, and the ovaries and testes
"gonads”

Hormone and Receptor

 certain hormones usually only affect a limited number of cells, which are
called target cells for these hormones. Target cells respond to hormones
because they contain receptors for these hormones
