SUBMITTED TO: PROF: CHANDRA DUBEY WHAT IS AN INTERVIEW?
An interview is essentially a structured
conversation where one participant asks questions, and the other provides answers. In common parlance, the word "interview" refers to a one-on-one conversation between an interviewer and an interviewee. PURPOSE OF CONDUCTING INTERVIEW: The purpose of conducting interviews is to collect information from a single person through a systematic and structured format. Individual interviews can often provide in-depth context, stories, and discussion related to one or more topics that are pertinent to the needs assessment. The purpose of an interview is twofold: It shows the employer what you can do for the company, and it gives you an opportunity to assess whether your qualifications and career ambitions align with the position. 1. Verifies the information obtained through application form and tests. 2.Helps obtain additional information from the applicant otherwise not available. 3.Gives the candidate necessary facts and information about the job and the organisation. 4.Helps establish mutual understanding between the company and the candidate and build the company’s image. DISTINGUISH BETWEEN STRUCTURED AND UNSTRUCTURED INTERVIEW: The structured interview uses preset questions, which are asked to all the candidates.
