SELF AWARENESS :
• Self awareness is an important concept , it describes the self
in terms of image , both conscious and unconscious.

to look at ones personality including behaviours and
attitudes that can be known and unknown to self and known
and unknown to others
• This diagram is called JOHARI WINDOW.
• It comprises of 4 parts.
JOHARI WINDOW:
EXAMPLE :
• Ego plays an important role in
human behaviour.

thinking , feeling and behaving at
any time.

ego states in varying degree.

reality based , fact seeking and problem
solving .
• The process of adult ego state formation goes
through ones own experiences and
continuously updating attitudes left over
from childhood .
• People with adult ego state gather relevant
information , carefully analyse it , generate
alternatives and make logical choices.
PARENT EGO
STATES:
• Parent ego state means that the
values , attitudes , and behaviour
of parents become an integral part
of the personality of an individual .

The heart of transactional analysis
is the study and diagramming of
the exchanges between two
parties
• COMPLEMENTARY TRANSACTIONS :
• Both people are operating from the same ego state . There
can be nine complementary transactions like
• Parent - parent transactions
• Parent - child transactions
• Parent - adult transactions etc…
CROSSED TRANSACTIONS:
• A crossed transaction is one in which the sender
sends message on the basis of his ego state , but
the message is received by an unexpected ego
state
• Crossed communication should be avoided as far
as possible
• In these, a satisfactory transaction is not
accomplished.
ULTERIOR TRANSACTIONS :
• Two ego states within the same person but one
disguises the other one.
CONCLUSION:
• With the help of interpersonal relationship there is
effective way of communicating with each other and by
knowing the ego state of people and anticipating their
behavior.
