2.0 3 Important keys
• Thermal effect influence battery performance and cycle life.
Problem • Uncontrolled temperature will lead to thermal runaway and explosion.
• Local temperature increases during discharging process especially for
statement large LiBs used in HEV and EV.
• Discharging rate
- C-rate – discharged relative to the battery maximum capacity. 1C rate means the discharge current will discharge entire battery in 1
hour.
Example : battery capacity 100Ah with 1C discharge rate, meaning it discharge the battery at 100A in 1hour.
if at 5C rate, it will discharge at 500A.
Lithium-ion batteries are all about the movement of lithium ions: the ions move one way when the battery charges; they move
the opposite way when the battery discharges:

5.0 Summary and Result
5.1 What have been done?
i. Fabricate top cover for the wind tunnel
- act as battery top holder – to space out between the 3 batteries evenly.
- cover up the gap between the batteries – prevent air from escaping.
Solidworks design 3D printing Fitment to test rig
ii. Fitting battery stand
- act as battery bottom holder – to space out between the 3 batteries.
- use of L-shape bracket
