Introduction
 Blastpad is also called overrun area or stopway area that
can not be used for:
 Taxi
 Takeoff
 Landing
 Landing roll out
 The only time an aircraft is permitted on a blast pad is if in
an emergency (aborted takeoff) over run.
 The blast pad is an area where jet blast can dissipate without
creating a hazard to others.
 Blastpad is construct of lightweight crushable concrete (high
energy absorbing material).
 An overrun or blast pad area at the approach end of a runway
is marked by a series of equally spaced yellow chevrons.
 These yellow chevrons indicate that the structure of
pavement is unusable for normal operation. Because of this
taxiway will not extent into this area.
 Blast pad located at the approach end of runway.
