 Hardware. It is any part of computer that can be
touched. These are primarily electronic devices
used to build up the computer. It performs the
computing operations along with taking input
and sending the computed result as output or to
storing that.

 Hardware
a. Input hardware – for users to input data into
the computer system
Ex: keyboard, mouse, scanner
b. Output hardware – to translate and display the
result of the data processing
Ex: monitor, printer

 ELEMENTS OF COMPUTER SYSTEM
 Software. It is a collection of computer programs,
procedures and documentation that performs
different tasks on a computer system.
1. System Software – provides basic non-task
specific functions of the computer
2. Application Software – used by users to
accomplish specific task

 Data. The raw facts and figures that we input in
the computer. The data gets processed via the
computer systems and becomes information
which is processed and organized data. The
measurement of data is done in terms of “bytes”.
Two types: numeric and non-numeric.

 Users. The people interacting with the computer
system are also an element of it. Three types:
a. Programmers – write the computer programs
b. System Analyst – designs the data processing
systems and solve problems
c. End-users – also called as operators, people who
interacts with the computer system
