CLAUDE MONET

BY ANDREW ROZENBLIT
Birthplace: Paris, France
Childhood / Early life: Near his father’s market
he met Eugene Boudin, who encouraged him
to do landscape painting.
Education: In 1859 Monet went to study at
Académie Suisse.
Death: died at Giverny on 5 December 1926
• Part of impressionist movement &
considered “father of impressionism”
• His work helped define the movement
and he became one of its leading
figures.

• Monet primarily used oil paint but also used pastels

and used a limited range of colors in all his painting.
Claude Monet was influenced by many
but primarily by Eugene Boudin.
Claude met Boudin near his father’s
shop. Boudin and Monet became close
even thought Boudin was 15 years
older than Monet. Boudin would keep
nagging Monet to be better and better.
Boudin ultimately inspired Monet to
make the first impressionist painting
Impact: In the late 19th century Claude
Monet and a few other artists formed
the impressionist art movement and
Monet was even considered the father
of the impressionist movement. This
influenced and impact the more
modern painters because without the
impressionist movement than modern
art wouldn’t be what it is today and
even art wouldn’t be what it is today.

Critique:

• In my opinion Monet’s work is extremely beautiful and

detailed.
• Monet’s personality was similar to the style of his
painting detailed and beautiful
• I strongly believe that Monet deserves his recognition,
he was one of the first impressionist artists and his
paintings are very beautiful.
• I always knew that Monet had beautiful paintings but
with this project I saw more of his paintings and my
opinion of him became more and more positive as I say
some of his paintings.
