Biodiversity
Biodiversity is the variety of life on Earth, it
includes all organisms, species, and population,
binding each into an interdependent
ecosystem, in which all species have their role.

Levels of Biodiversity
Causes of Biodiversity Loss
Pollution
Climate change
Invasive Species
Land-use change
Over-exploitation of natural
resources

Fresh Water Pollution
Marine Pollution from oil spill

“Loss of biological diversity
due to species extinctions is
going to have major impacts
on our planet, and we better
prepare ourselves to deal
with them” said University of
Michigan Ecologist Bradley Cardinale.

Biodiversity loss also threatens the structure and

proper functioning of the ecosystem. Although all
ecosystems are able to adapt to the stresses
associated with reductions in biodiversity to some
degree. Parts are lost, the ecosystem loses its
ability to recover from a disturbance. Beyond a
critical point of species removal or diminishment,
the ecosystem can become destabilized and
collapse.
