Blokset fully Arc resistant

●Blokset type-tested according to CEI 61641 (internal arc)

● 5 criteria fulfilled for personal safety:

1. Doors & covers remain closed
2. No parts shall fly off the panel
3. Switchboard parts shall remain unaccessible
4. Vertical indicators shall not ignite
5. Earthing connection shall remain effective after arc D:\documents and
Settings\ebag120\My Doc

● Most higher internal arc withstand :

● 85kA 0,3s

Schneider Electric - Okken presentation – 03/05/2010 7

Mw2 column
NEW
● Mw2 column is fully a part of Blokset offer. 201
0

● The Mw2 column can easily be lined up with the remaining

part of Blokset range.

● Designed for the best MCC applications:

● padlocking and locking plugged in or withdrawn,
● “test” position for checkings,
● more MCC’s functions in less space thanks to the new
plug’in system.

Switchgear design

●Frame

● Easy to manufacture

● No specific tools to assemble the panel

● Profiles of the frame construction are galvanic

protected

● Standard metal section (« profil ») to built all

the various configuration

● Simple parts, easy to manufacture anywhere

Schneider Electric - Blokset Mcc presentation – 04/07/2011 11

Switchgear design
●Distribution busbar
● Installed in a partitioned
compartment at the rear of the drawers
area

● Specific door for tap-off outlets make the

busbar unaccessible except for the
plugs of the drawer.

● The 2 busbars are linked together at the

bottom with the vertical busbars link
system.

● This links are encapsulated in a metal

sheet box with plastic covers.

drawer

● It distributes the current to each drawer inside

the same column through two branches.

Schneider ● The current is splitted in two parts

Patent
● nominal current flows in each branch of the bus
bar
● short circuit current flows in each branch of the
bus bar

Schneider Electric - Blokset Mcc presentation – 04/07/2011 13

Switchgear design
●Distribution busbar
Innovative designs (Schneider patent)

Main advantage : compactness solution for

cost decrease

• 2 branches linked by a vertical busbar link

 lead busbar thickness reduction for the
same nominal current and short circuit

 More depth for drawers

• No splitter block for half width drawers :

 Save time to assemble the panels
 Reduce critical components
Busbar without splitter  More place for cabling
blocks

Schneider Electric - Blokset Mcc presentation – 04/07/2011 14

Switchgear design
●Vertical Busbar with Link
Main advantage : compactness solution

• More place to connect the customer cables

• High withstand performance for short circuit
with high volume busbar supports reused from
Canalis - 85kA

Double busbar Single busbar

Vertical Busbar H & Busbar looping

Withdrawable functional units
●New drawers for more safety and avaibility
● Type tested solution (IEC 61439)

● Fully Withdrawable functional unit (WWW)

● Withdrawable safety in all position :

● Connected position
● Test position
● Disconnected position

● Clear indication of the drawer position

Schneider Electric - Blokset Mcc presentation – 04/07/2011 18

Withdrawable functional units
●New drawers for more safety and avaibility
● Door” interlocking :
● The door in front of each functional unit can only be
opened only when the unit circuit-breaker is tripped

● Padlocking in “On” or “Off” position :

● 3 padlocks in 3 positions of drawer can be added
onto the pushbutton by maintenance and electrical /
mechanical services.

● 3 padlocks can be added onto the fixe part when

the drawer is extracted

● Fast replacement
● Replacing a module takes less than a minute

Vertical Busbar Innovative designs

(Schneider patent)

Main advantage : safety (optimum protection)

• A fully phase segregated and encapsulated bus bar

Each circuit are inside metallic enclosure
Connection to the distribution bar is realized using
“canalis” support.

The Tap unit is designed with shutters inside. During the

racking out process the shutters close automatically to
Tap unit prevent the possibility of contact with live parts.
No live part is accessible in case drawer is out

Tap unit : more than 800 000 components / year on site

• Simple sheet metal parts

solution:
● Secure power availabilty,
● Guaranty capital investment,
● Master operating expenses,
● Increase safety of people,
● fast return on investesment for customers
owing to reduced maintenance costs,
● type-tested solution.

Schneider Electric - Blokset Mcc presentation – 04/07/2011 29

Thermal Monitoring option
●3 different solutions proposed
● Solution 1: LT3
● If there is no TeSys T, you can use an LT3.
● An output contact reports overshooting of
the temperature threshold.

● Solution 2: TeSys T
● Use of the motor temperature measurement output.
● An output contact reports overshooting of the
temperature threshold.

● Solution 3 : Millenium
● Fault location (input / output)
● 3 threshold available
