Maruti 800 – 30 Years of

Dream Run
• The car, which was priced at around Rs. 50,000 when
launched in the early 1980s

• Last available for about R2.35 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)

• First Owner - Harpal Singh, a resident of south Delhi,


had won white Maruti 800 donning the number plate
‘6479’ in a lucky draw. The car key was handed over to
him by none other than former Prime Minister Indira
Gandhi

• Maruti was the first made-in-India car to get disc brakes,


front-wheel drive, floorshift gears, bucket seats and a
plastic moulded dashboard.
