DESCRIPTION OF THE BUSINESS IDEA

The main idea of this project is to take advantage of the high quality and variety of
Colombian fruits and cereals to create natural, nutritious and attractive bars for
Los Angeles CA market. The target group to which Tropical Tree will go, will be the
consumers of organic snacks, which seek food from easy consumption with high
nutrient index and that in return they take care of their health, meeting their needs
and protecting the environment.
To develop it, qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques were used
through market research; with the objective of knowing the profile of the
consumer, characteristics of the competition and the evolution of demand.

ABSTRACT
Nowadays, where trade borders are not limited, where companies face constant
competition, and selling quality products at low cost and in the right place is fundamental,
there is the opportunity to meet the needs and requirements of the demand through
products that meet their expectations, this project will carry out an export business plan
analyzing the variables that influence the process; as objectives, goals, strengths,
weaknesses, threats, opportunities, competition, characteristics of the target market,
logistics, cultural aspects, costs, viabilities, adaptations, modifications or changes and
financing among others. The purpose of this is to apply the issues seen to carry out export
processes between Colombia and the United States, under specific conditions, rules
established both in the place of origin and in the destination, in addition to considering
international trade terms, legislation customs, and the free trade agreement of the country
of import, likewise includes the specifications of the merchandise to be exported.

Tropical Tree is a company that produces and markets innovative and competitive
nutritious food with high quality standards, targeting large family supply chains and final
consumers in North American territory, offering a timely product that satisfies the needs
and characteristics desired by its customers.

We Will be a company, specializing in the production and marketing of snacks bars
of cereal with national and international recognition and presence, and widening
goals in new markets through strategic alliances.
We will have strategic links with large surfaces and food companies, with which we
Will continue to work towards success. 
The efficiency will be one of our great strengths, with determination and quality we
will satisfy the palate of the consumers. Also we will have a continuous process of
innovation, taking into account the wishes and need of consumers.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
 
to prepare a business plan to determine the feasibility of exporting and
publicizing effectively and efficiently a product with great health
benefits such as snack bar cereals with dehydrated fruit, focused on the
North American market, specifically Los Angeles Ca Based on the free
trade agreements established between the Republic of Colombia and
the United States of America.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

To analyze the demand of the product and determine the acceptance in the market.
To identify the target market and to define characteristics of the selected market, its competitive
situation and national and international competition.
To determine the standards, requirements and specifications necessary for the production and
export of the product.
To analyze the relevant tariff and non-tariff barriers.
To define characteristics of the selected country and market, its competitive situation and national
and international competition.
To analyze the applicable international treaties on foreign trade to determine and take advantage
of its benefits.
To determine the most appropriate export price, place, promotion, and presentation for the
product.
To detect the most suitable points of sale in the foreign market.
To prepare a financial analysis to determine the scenarios in which the product can be a real
business opportunity.

INCOTERMS
The Incoterms are a set of international rules, governed by the International Chamber of
Commerce, that determine the scope of the commercial clauses included in the
international sales contract.
Incoterms are also called price clauses, since each term allows determining the elements
that comprise it. The selection of Incoterm influences the cost of the contract.
The purpose of the Incoterms is to provide a set of international rules for the interpretation
of the most used terms in International Trade.

The Incoterms determine:

• The price range


• At what time and where there is the transfer of
risks on merchandise from the seller to the buyer.
• The place of delivery of the merchandise.
• Who hires and pays for transportation
• Who hires and pays insurance
• What documents are handled each part and its
cost.

DELIVERY DUTY PAID
Under DDU the seller is responsible for all costs associated until the seller delivers the
goods to the buyer, cleared for import at named place of destination. In DDP the seller
does not pay for unloading the goods. It is important to mention the exact name of the
place of destination. This term can be used for any mode of transportation including
multimodal. The term is used under the assumption that the seller is capable of clear
customs at destination.
For this term, seller delivers goods until the final point agreed with buyer with customs
import clearance paid and goods unloaded. It represents the maximum risk for seller. Seller
must pay all duties, taxes, VAT and other destination charges. It doesn’t require any party
for insurance and can be used for any mode of transportation.
In practice, seller must know what to do when selling up to final destination with all
expenses covered. It is usually applicable for items like courier where the full supply chain
cost is under control and with minimum cost variance.

• Target group
The concept refers to a representative and ideal consumer to whom a campaign is

The Incoterms regulate the delivery of goods, the transmission of risks, the distribution

• Legislation customs It is the set of legal rules and
regulations that determine the tax regime to which importers, exporters, shipping agents
in general have to submit themselves.
• Merchandise It is all "that which can be sold or
bought", usually the term is applied to economic goods
