Swarnajayanti Fellowships
Selected number of young scientists, with proven track
record, are provided special assistance and support to enable them to pursue
basic research in frontier areas of science and technology.

Nature of Support:
The fellowship is Rs. 10,000/- per month for those who draw salary. In addition to
fellowship, grants for equipment, computational and communication facilities,
consumables, contingencies, administrative support, national and international
travel and other special requirements will be covered.

Duration:
Fellowship for a period not exceeding five years.
Fellowship is for Scientists between 30 and 40 years.

Eligibility:
The applicant should possess Ph. D in Science / Engineering,
Scientists should be active in the frontier areas of science and engineering with
outstanding contributions, (research publications, peer recognition etc.) in his areas
of research.

Applications for the "Swarnajayanti Fellowships" are invited from eligible candidates

Ramanna Fellowships
Ramanna Fellowship is for continued core
financial support to those researchers who have
performed excellently well in their ongoing research
projects of SERC (viz. FAST TRACK Scheme for Young
Scientist, Women Scientists Scheme-S, SERC
Individual Research Projects, Nanoscience and
Technology Initiative projects and Swaranjayanti
Fellowship projects).

JC BOSE NATIONAL FELLOWSHIPS
The fellowship is to recognize active scientists and engineers for
their outstanding performance and contributions.
ELIGIBILITY:
 Indian Nationals residing in India who are below the age of 60 years.
 The applicant should possess a Ph.D. in Science/Engineering and must have carried out several years of
research work.
 These Fellowships are meant for those who have a proven track–record as evident from their research
 publications and recognitions.
 The candidate must have a regular position in an Institute and should be engaged in research.

DURATION: The duration of the fellowship is initially for five years.

NATURE OF SUPPORT:
 The value of the fellowship is Rs. 20,000 per month in addition to regular income.
 In addition, each Fellow will receive a contingency of Rs. 5.00 lakh per annum for conferences and other
expenses.

Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF)

The objectives of research support are as follows:


 To generate information and knowledge required for developing
strategies, techniques, and methodologies for better environmental
management.
 To find practical solutions to problems of environmental management.
 To strengthen scientific manpower in the multidisciplinary and
emerging areas of environment conservation.
 To promote infrastructure facilities for undertaking Environmental
Research.
 To generate, document, and analyze information for taking policy
decisions relating to environment and natural resources, including
international negotiations.

A project will normally be sanctioned for a maximum of three years.
Under each Research Programme, proposals may be considered
in the following modes:
(a) Suo-moto Proposals: Such proposals may be submitted by the
proposer at any time of the year to the Contact Person in respect of
each Programme.
(b) Invited Proposals (Competitive): Proposals may be invited under
each Research programme by the Ministry, depending upon need,
from a set (or network) of research institutions.
(c) Commissioned Proposals (Non-competitive): The Ministry, may
directly commission research studies to one or a network of research
institutions.

Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)

CSIR is a premier R & D organization in India. Human


Resource Development Group (HRDG), a division of CSIR realized
the objectives through various grants.
The CSIR provides financial assistance to promote research work in the fields
of Science & Technology, including Agriculture, Engineering and Medicine.
There are numerous schemes cover a wide range of scientists aging from 15
to 65 years.
Priority is given to multi-disciplinary projects and to solve specific
problems pursued by CSIR laboratories.
Proposals of applied nature as well as basic science.
Funds provided are for JRF, SRF and RA, Contingencies and Equipment.
Amounts for Equipments are small.

CSIR also provides special grants on “Natural hazards to
ensure disaster preparedness” for researchers in Universities.

 Senior Research Associateship (CSIR Pool Scientists Scheme) – This

is primarily temporary placement to highly qualified Indian Scientists,

Engineers, Technologists, etc., returning from foreign countries – Not


holding position in India.

Maximum age limit – 40 years.


This Associateship is only for 3 years.
