SOME FACTS…

 India is the second largest producer of Fruits after China, with a


production of 44.04 million tonnes of fruits from an area of 3.72
million hectares
 Although fruit is grown throughout of the country, the major fruit
growing states are Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra
Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat . 
 Mango  is  the most important fruit covering about 35  per cent of area
and accounting of 22 per cent total production of total  fruits in the
country.
 Banana comes next in rank occupying about 13 per cent of the total
area and accounting for about  34.2 per cent of the total production of
fruits.  
 India has first position in the world in banana production.
 India grows the most bananas, but is not a large exporter. Most of
their bananas are used right in India.

 Type of business: export of banana products
 Plantation: plan to harvest 1,500 clusters of banana per day.
 Make use of the waste:
1) The red heart (purple, tapered bud), one in each cluster
which is rich in potassium.
2) The stalks thrown outside when removing the bananas from
the clumps,.
3) the trunks that are cut with the leaves. It has conditions to
make fibbers.
 Thus, between 12 to 15 Tons/day of organic material is drained
out, which be commercially exploited.
