FLASHFLOOD?
Flash flood is a sudden
local flood characterized
by a great volume of water
and a short duration.
Are very dangerous
because the water in a
flash flood often move at
destructive speeds and
they often occur with very
little warning

6 hours of rain event or
after a dam is broken and
levee failure following a
sudden release of water
by an ice jam.

flash flood can occur
due to the sudden
release of water after a
dam is broken.

OCCUR?
Flood occurs in
known floodplains
when prolonged
rainfall over several
days.
HOW DOES FLASH
FLOOD HAPPEN??
when there is an
excessive rainfall
within a few minutes
or hours ,a levee or
dam failure and a
sudden release of
water held by an ice
HOW DOES FLOODS
HAPPEN???
Floods happen
during heavy rains ,
when snow melt too
fast.
Flooding may happen
with only a few inches
of water and may cover
a house to the rooftop.
Can last quickly or
over a long period of
time maybe days or
weeks.
