Heart Rate and Fitness

Finn, James, Cait, Warisse, Matteo, and Kim

Introduction:
We were aiming to discover how fast our heart could get back to our
resting heart rate after doing two sets of activities (moderate and
vigorous). This is important to discover in terms of health and fitness
because the speed of your heart rate falling back into resting heart rate
determines how fit you are, and your bpm can tell you whether you are
healthy. The entire class had recorded their results for their resting heart
rate and the times it took for their heart rate to go down
(moderate/vigorous) so that the data could be analysed.
BPM
Chart for resting
HR (heart rate)
bpm:
● To find resting HR, we
laid down and found
our pulse by
neck/wrist and
counted each beat
for 10 seconds,
multiplied result by 6
● The data shows us
that everyone had
similar results

Class of FND3
Time to get back to resting HR (min) Time it takes to
reach resting HR
after moderate
exercise (min)
● 1 min walk/1 min jog/1
min lunges
● What we did to find
our resting HR again
● Jeremy anomaly

Class of FND3
Time to get back to resting HR (min)
Time it takes to
reach resting HR
after vigorous
exercise (min):
● 1 min run/1 min star
jumps/30 seconds
mountain climber/30
seconds squats
● Jeremy anomaly
● Half of the people in
the class have the
same results

Class of FND3
What could have affected the results?
● The data graphs can’t exactly show us who is fit/who isn’t
● Asthma & allergies affect the time it takes for heart rate to go back to
resting heart rate
Conclusions
● I Knew that moderate activity was going to take less time to go back
to resting HR than vigorous
● The heart is a muscle, meaning it works harder for vigorous activity
● I knew that everyone would have a different result for there HR after
activity to go back to resting HR
Evaluations & Reflections
Evaluation Reflections

● Findings are not completely ● Science and PHE have taught us

reliable more on how our body works,
● Take allergies and asthma into and what our body does when we
consideration for the data do fitness.
(+anomaly) ● This IDU works because knowing
● Needed more repeats for both how the body works while doing
vigorous and moderate exercise fitness is essential for knowing
what to achieve for health and
fitness
