PROBLEM 2:

In a Dental health camp conducted at Byasi, Bhaktapur most of the males of 35-44 years were heavy smokers since
more than 5 years. They were systemically healthy and there was no medical history contributory to dental problem.
In order to assess the periodontal status, Community periodontal index was recorded and most of them had CPI
score 3 and 4.

1. Identify the oral health problem of the people screened.
As the people participating were systemically healthy and there was no medical history
contributory to dental problem, smoking habit seems to be the sole cause for periodontal
disease
Most of the people participated have CPI score of 3 and 4.
Peoples having score 3 have pathological pocket 4-5 mm gingival margin is situated on black
band of the probe.
Peoples having score 4 have pathological pocket 6 mm or more.black band of the probe not
visible.
• Discuss the natural history and determinants of periodontal disease.
