 Sagarmala is the one of the biggest project of indian government
ever
 Launched in April 2016
 The estimated time to finish the project is year 2022
 More than the half of the work has been done
 The major port of india is mumbai, chennai, koachin and
visakhapatnam
 Estimated more then 6 lacs employement generated by this
project or you can say more then 6 lacs involved in this project
 its was the dream project of our prime minister shri narender modi

HOW DO ROADS HELPS IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

 When in trouble, some politicians and countries return to


the influential britsh ecenomiest john maynard keynes.
Keynes believed that government must be ready to borrow
more and invest in public works in order to restart growth
 The govt. will build roads. It will employ many people in
the process and pay them. This income when spent will
spur business as well as the economy.
 The project is expacted to creat nearly 100 million jobs
during and subsequently 22 million jobs as a result of the
increased economic activity across the country
EXAMPLE
 Tto go from bejjing to shangai via road as per
google maps it takes around 12.5 hours for a
distance of 1213 km
 To go from delhi to mumbai it takes around 22.5
hours for a distance around 1414 km
 for 200 km more in india 10 more hours are
required. Average speed in the china around 100
km per hour and in the indian one around 60 km
ENTER BHARATMALA
 Bharatmala is the umbrella program fr the new
highway sector that focuses on optimizing
effeciency of road traffic movment across the
cuntry by bridging critical infrastructre gaaps
 Bharatmala projects which was cleared by the
union cabinet on october 25, 2016 is the largest
highway construction projects in the country
since NHDP.

THERES MORE

In addition to rs 535000 crore for bharatmala phase


1 there is a requiremwnt of rs 1,57,324 for
ongoing schemes like NH(O) SARDP-NE and
LWEunder implimentation in the highway sector.
Thus the overall outlay for bharatmala and all
existing schemes put togather will be rs 6,92,324
crore over a period of 5 year

north east)
EMPLOYMENT
 Development of projects under the umbrella
program would generate
 Ssubstantive employment opportunities across
the country
 It has been estimated more than 10 crore
mandays shall be generated from phase 1
program

LOGISTICS
 Bharatmala will lower logistics coast to 6% from18
% :gadkari
 Bharatmala program will increase vehicle
travelling speed by around 20-25% thereb helping
reduce logistics costs
 India hass been grapling with hih logistics costss to
16-18 % which make its exports uncompetitive
vis-à-vis china, which hs lower logistics costs 8-
10%
CONNECTIVITY
 The program enable to connect 550 districts in
the country throgh NH linkage
 Currently, around 300 districts have NH linkage
FUNDING
 The bharatmala projects will be funded in three
phase manner- market, private and assets
 Of total rs,5,35,000 crore rs 2.09 lakh crore will
be raised as debt market rs 1.06 lacs will be
mobilised throgh PPP made and remaining 2.19
lacs crore flown from acrual central road funds
toll operate-maintain-transfer monetensiation
proceeds and toll collection.
