About Fed. MES
BACKGROUND HISTORY
▪ 1916 - MES was originally formed as
“Burma Engineering Congress”
▪ 1927 - Name was changed to
“Association of Engineering in Burma”
▪ 1939-1945 - Activities were ceased due to World War II
▪ 1946-1961 - Resumed its regular activities
▪ 1962-1995 - Was abolished due to Government Act
▪ 1995 - Officially formed as “Myanmar Engineering
Society” on 23rd December 1995 by some
800 Engineers and Architects at YIT assembly hall
▪ 7th Feb 1996 - MES was officially inaugurated.
▪ Jan 2019 - Renamed Fed. MES at AGM

implement work program
e) MES has 61,473 individual members
23 Chapters in Nationwide

▪ To set up management training center to strengthen National
Quality Infrastructure
▪ To assist local industries by developing their management systems
to achieve international recognized level
▪ To promote the managerial level of SMEs by implementing
relevant ISO standards to achieve high quality products & services
▪ To train IRCA approved lead auditors for local industries
▪ To reduce the cost of certification for SMEs in the way of forming
local based certification bodies
