WHAT IS PRECAST RCC STAIRCASE?

• Precast staircase is a construction method where RCC staircase is

casted on different site which is later transported to the construction
site and lifted into place.
• Most of the concrete stair arrangements are possible to produce as
precast concrete components which can be:
• Individual steps units.
• Complete flight with number of steps required.
BENEFITS OF PRECAST RCC STAIRCASE

• Precasting stairs produces better surface finishes.

• Avoids the inherent problems of casting complicated inclined sections
on site and provides rapid access to successive floors.
• They are particularly cost effective when the design of the building
requires a reasonable amount of repetition.
• Can usually be positioned and fixed by semi-skilled labour.
LIMITATIONS OF PRECAST RCC STAIRCASE

• Efficient transport and lifting vehicles are a prerequisite for the use of
industrially manufactured precast concrete elements.

• Additional care is needed to achieve monolithic joints between

precaste stair elements and cast in situ structural elements.
COMMON TYPES OF PRECAST STEPS UNITS

• Rectangular cantilever steps

• Spandril cantilever steps

• Sector shaped cantilever units.

(Used for open riser spiral stairs)
TOP:
In situ concrete staircase, the stairs are
supported on soft pads at discrete points, a
joint separate wall and stair.

MIDDLE:
Cast-in place concrete stair shaft with
prefabricated stair flights, the bottom and
top support for the flight include sound
insulation, the landings are laterally
supported on soft pads, flights seprated from
wall by a joint.

BOTTOM:
Staircase made completely of prefabricate
elements, the flights are extended to include
the landings, support joints with sound
insulation layer, stair is separated from wall
elements
