Biosphere Reserve in Chhattisgarh

This is the first Biosphere reserve of Chhattisgarh state & 14th biosphere reserve
of the country, Declared by Govt. Of India During the year 2005.
This Biosphere has been included in the world network of biosphere reserve
(WNBR) by UNESCO during the year 2012.
National Parks Of Chhattisgarh
Guru Ghasidas National Park
- It was declared as a National park in the year 1981.
- Largest National Park of CG.
- Situated in Korea And Surajpur District.
- Area – 1440.705 Sq Km.
Indravati National Park
- It was declared as a National park in the year 1981
- Located in bijapur.
- Area – 1258.37 Sq Km.
- The park derives its name from the Indravati River which flows along
the northern boundary of the park.
Kanger Valley National Park
-It was declared national park in 1982.
-Located in near Jagdalpur.
-Its name from the kanger river that flows through it.
-Area 200Sq Km.
Wildlife Sanctuary Of
Chhattisgarh
Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary
- Established in 1976.
- Located in Northern Part of Mahasamund District.
- Area – 245 Sq Km.
Bhoramdeo Wildlife Sanctuary
-Established in 2001.
- Located Nearly 20km away from kawardha City.
- Area – 353 Sq Km.
Gomarda Wildlife Sanctuary
- Established in 1975.
- Located Near Sarangarh Town.
- Area 277.82 Sq Km.
Tamor- Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary
- It is the largest wildlife Sanctuary of Chhattisgarh.
- Notified as wildlife Sanctuary in 1978.
- Located in Surajpur District.
- Area 608.55 Sq Km.
Badalkhol Wildlife Sanctuary
-Established In 1975.
- Located In Jashpur District
-Area 104.454 sq. km.
SEMARSOT WILDLIFE SENCTUARY
- Established in 1978.
- Located near Semarsot on the Ambikapur-Daltonganj Road.
- Area 430.36 sq. km.
BHAIRAMGARH WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
- Established in 1983.
- Located in bijapur district.
- Area 138.950 sq km.
Tiger reserves in Chhattisgarh
Achanakmar tiger Reserve
-Established in 1975.
-Situated in Mungeli district of Chhattisgarh.
- Area 557.55 Sq Km
INDRAVATI TIGER RESERVE
-Established in 1981.
- Located in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh.
- In 1983, it attained the status of a tiger reserve under the famous project tiger of
India.
- Area 2799.08 Sq Km.
UDANTI AND SITANADI TIGER RESERVE
-Established in 1983.
-Located in Dhamtari district.
-Area 1872 Sq Km
ZOO AND SAFARI
THE NANDAN VAN ZOO & SAFARI- NAYA RAIPUR
- India’s and Asia’s biggest man-made ‘Jungle Safari’ come up on
202.87 Hectare in Khanduwa village, Sector-39, Naya Raipur in May
2016.
- It was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi In November 2016.
KANAN PENDARI – BILASPUR
- Established in 1975 in Bilaspur, and total area is 106 hectare.
- It is a small zoo situated near Sakari, approx 10 kms. From Bilaspur
on Mungeli Road.

Health Indicators
Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) Decreased from 77(2001) to 41 in (2015)

Maternal Mortality rate (MMR) Decreased from 379 per lakh to 221 per lakh in 2015

Total Vaccination Increased from 48.7% (2006) to 76.4% (2015-2016)

Institutional Deliveries Increased from 14% to 74% .

Prevalence rate of leprosy Decreased from 7.72 to 2.8 per thousand.

Dial 108 Sanjeevani express has saved lives of more than 12 lakh people till date .
Health Policies
Health Insurance Scheme:
Under National Health Insurance Scheme & Chief Minister Health
Scheme , we have touched nearly 40.25 lakh families providing
Insurance Cover of Rs 50,000 to each.
Mahtari Express Scheme:
It started on 23 August 2013 to provide emergency ambulance
service to pregnant women's.
Chirayu Abhiyan:
In this we have conducted health check –up of 99 lakh children
and provided medical treatment facility to more than 17 lakh
Children.

Mukhyamantri Bal Bhavishya Suraksha Yojna:
Under this yojna, 6370 children have been benefitted and under
this yojna 112 children have been benefited.
Jan Aushadhi Kendras:
Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been established at 98 places in
Chhattisgarh for generic medicines.
New Medical Colleges:
Government established four new medical colleges in state
including medical colleges in bastar (Jagdalpur year 2006), Raigarh
(Year 2013) and Sarguja (Ambikapur 2016) .
Chhattisgarh govt. have established State Cancer Hospital in
Bilaspur.
