College Readiness
What is College-Ready?
When a student does NOT
need to take remedial college
courses because they
achieved a sufficient score on
the SAT, ACT or CPT & they
achieved a 3 or above on the
FCAT Reading and/ or Math.
What if I don’t take any of these tests?
If a student has not taken (and achieved
a sufficient score in both Reading and
Math), the student MUST take an
entrance exam at the college or university
(& pay for it).

These exams determine if the student

will have to take remedial courses or not.
What are college remedial courses?
• Courses like Senior English, Algebra
I, etc.- how many courses depends
on how bad you do on the tests.
• Courses that DO NOT COUNT
towards your college degree !!!!
• This means you will have to be in
college longer !!!!
Remedial Course Cost (UF)
• 1 remedial class= $ 504.45 (+
tax)*
• 2 remedial classes= $ 1,008.90
(+ tax)*

*Based on 2009-10 entrance fees

What do I need to do to be College Ready?
1. Sign up and take the SAT, ACT
&/ or the CPT. (Take them
all !!!!!)
2. Achieve a sufficient score for
BOTH Reading & Math
Reading Math
SAT 440 440
ACT 18 19
CPT 83 72
Is the CPT is a great test to take?
