Obesity rates and costs by gender in ASEAN nations are presented from a 2017 report. Obesity is defined as a BMI of 30 or greater, with overweight between 25-29.9. Data shows the percentage of the obese population by gender in ASEAN countries in 2017, as well as the total cost of obesity as a percentage of healthcare spending by gender. The conclusion recommends avoiding obesity from childhood through exercise, food labeling, and monitored food intake, as childhood obesity can lead to chronic illnesses and be hard to reverse.
