 Motivation
• We all are aware with the problem of the energy meter. We need to
have a digital energy meter which provide us all the reading of power
consumption and excate money we all have to pay to electricity bill.

• And this meter has also ability to control the load with mobile phone
this is its special function that’s why we want make this project.
• Smart energy meter is available in market ,but it used only in
industries.
 Introduction

• Smart prepaid energy meter billing plus load control using

GSM(Global System for Mobile)system is a device, that not only
calculate the monthly electric bill of consumer, as well as it also has a
capability to control the load of user defined area.
• Beside this, user can get their home load information & on or off their
loads with the help of mobile phone. In other words it has dual
function capability.
• So many systems are available in market like this, but they do not
have dual function capability as well as their cost is also so much high.

 Application and Advantages
• This smart prepaid energy meter billing plus load control using GSM
system could be installed within domastic and commercial building for
power meter billing and load control.
• In conventional way for taking the energy meter reading, energy
department sends their related person to take energy meter reading
is so much time consuming and expensive way but by using this
power meter billing plus load control using GSM system energy
department can save its time & cost.
• This system is less costly, more reliable & more efficient as compared
to other system.
 PROBLEM

As we mentioned above several advantages of digital energy meter,

but always there are chances of innovation or modification in
different instruments for ease of consumer & supplier.
• Meter Reading & other related tasks like bill payment are performed
by large number of staff i.e., large number of employees are required.
• Billing errors due to carelessness of meter readers during meter
reading & sometimes billing estimation.
• Careless usage of electricity by consumer who is unaware of its cost.
• Consumer has to stand in queue for hours for bill payment.
