- A wound is an injury that occurs to the body. It

ACCORDING TO THE OBJECT OR THE CAUSAL MECHANISM

• Sharp: It is caused by a sharp object such as a knife or glass. In this type of wound,
bleeding is usually heavy.
• Stinging: It is produced by a sharp object, such as a nail. The severity of the wound
depends on the depth and whether it damages nerves or blood vessels.
• By tearing: It is produced by objects with teeth in their cutting part, such as a
chainsaw. The edges are uneven.
• By scraping produced by objects with teeth or shovels, such as a food grinder, or by
asphalt, when the skin is dragged by it in a traffic accident and the meat is exposed.

ACCORDING TO HEALING

• Acute: Is the one that the body is able


to close or heal in the expected time.
The healing will take place without
infection and in a period that usually
ranges from seven to fourteen days.

• Chronic: Is one that the body cannot


close or heal in the expected time, since
the wound is usually deeper and the area
is usually inflamed. The repair and healing
process is messy, it lengthens over time.
ACCORDING TO YOUR RISK OF INFECTION

• Clean: It is performed in an aseptic environment, for example in an


operating room.
• Contaminated :Has been exposed to bacteria for a short period of
time.
• Dirty or infected: Has been exposed to bacteria for a long period of
time.
ACCORDING TO THE INTEGRITY OF THE SKIN

- Open: the separation of the soft tissues from the skin is observed. These lesions
tend to become easily infected.
- Closed: No apparent lesion is observed, but there is bleeding under the skin, in
cavities or viscera. Thus, the damaged tissues are not exposed to the outside.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR WOUND

Proper wound care means keeping it clean and


covered. This can help prevent infection and
scarring.
- For minor injuries, clean the wound with
mild soap and water. Cover the wound with a
sterile bandage or other dressing.
- For major injuries, follow the doctor's
instructions on how to care for your injury.
¿HOW TO HEAL A WOUND?

• As a generally rule and as a first


care, wounds should be cleaned with
water and neutral soap (from inside
the wound to the outside) and dried
carefully. It is also advisable to apply
some antiseptic to prevent infections
and cover it with a dressing or
bandage. Health personnel will be in
charge of assessing and analyzing the
severity of the injury and applying
the most suitable cures according to
the particularities of the injury and
the patient.
