           Properties of sound waves

Sound wave can be described by five characteristics: Wavelength, Amplitude,

Time-Period, Frequency and Velocity or Speed.
1.Wavelength.
2.Amplitude. ...
3.Time-Period. ...
4.Frequency. ...
5.Velocity of Wave (Speed of Wave)
                  Functions of ear

The ear - a magnificent organ. The ear is an advanced and very sensitive organ

of the human body. The ear's function is to transmit and transduce sound to the
brain through the parts of the ear: the outer ear, the middle ear and the
inner ear.
   Decibel levels of different sounds

Normal conversation is about 60 dB, a lawn

mower is about 90 dB, and a loud rock
concert is about 120 dB. In general, sounds
above 85 are harmful, depending on how long
and how often you are exposed to them and
whether you wear hearing protection, such as
earplugs or earmuffs. text
How is Sound Used in Advertisements
Music in advertising is "the most common musical technique for aiding
memorability and hence product recall". A theory suggests that the
initial sound (or notes in the case of music) activates a cohort of possible matches
in memory, which is narrowed as the sound (or melody) progresses.
       Audible and Inaudible Sound

Inaudible And Audible Sound
Human ear cannot detect sound frequencies less than 20 vibrations per second i.e.
20 Hz. So any sound below this frequency will be inaudible sound for humans. ...
So the frequencies below 20 Hz and above 20 KHz comes under the category
of inaudible frequencies.
How Does Sound Help Humans
Sound is a critical environmental signifier. Increasingly, we are learning
that humans and animals are not the only organisms that use sound to
communicate. Plants detect vibrations in a frequency-selective manner, using
this “hearing” sense to find water by sending out acoustic emissions and to
communicate threats. Sound is very important to a humans life
