EARTH’S MOVING PLATES
Earth’s crust rests on top on another
layer called The MANTLE; they are
divided into very large pieces called
PLATES that move all time.
These movements can causes rapid
changes in the Earth surface, for
example:
● Volcanoes
● Earthquake
● Landslides and floods
● Droughts
● Volcanoes: forms at an opening in
Earth’s crust when magma reaches
the surface. The eruption out is
called LAVA (hot rocks, ash, gases,
another particles) bursts from the
vents.
● Earthquakes: occur along of a fault
when break or crack in rocks when
Earth’s crust can move.Rocks along
fault can stuck, the movement cause
stress and can brack and the plates
move suddenly on the fault causing
the Earthquake.
Earthquake can cause landslides or tsunamis
and has three parts:

FOCUS: Is the place underground when the

earthquake begins.
EPICENTER: Is the point on Earth surface that
is directly above the focus

LANDSLIDES:Is a rapid downhill movement of

a large amount of rock and soil.

FLOODS: fast moving water in flash floods can

cover land with sand and mud.

DROUGHTS. are periods of unusual low rain

reducing amounts of water in rivers or lakes or
snowfall; increase soil erosion destroying
farmland and kill trees and other plants.
