ETHNOGRAPHY
 Ethnography is the study of people in
naturally occurring settings or 'fields' by
means of methods which capture their social
meanings and ordinary activities, involving
the researcher participating directly in the
setting
Encyclopedia Britannica Defines
ethnography as
 “Descriptive study of a particular human
society or the process of making such a study.
Contemporary ethnography is based almost
entirely on fieldwork and requires the
complete immersion of the anthropologist in
the culture and everyday life of the people who
are the subject of his study.”
 Ethnography is the scientific study of human
social phenomena and communities, through
means such as fieldwork. It is defined as a
systematic process, through which models of
culture or subculture are observed, described,
documented and analyzed. Usually, it is viewed
as a research approach based on fieldwork with
participatory observations and open interviews.
 The practice of ethnography usually involves
fieldwork in which the ethnographer lives
among the population being studied. While
trying to retain objectivity, the ethnographer
lives an ordinary life among the people,
working with informants who are particularly
knowledgeable or well placed to collect
information.
