Why Did we choose this sport?
We choose this sport because this sport get our attention by the equipment required and the
way of the players practice this sport.
How is played?
Each player is allowed to use a stringed racket and a shuttlecock. The shuttlecock is made up of
half round ball at the bottom and a feather like material surrounding the top. You can only really
hit the bottom of the shuttlecock and as gravity comes into play will always revert the ball side
facing down. You may only hit the shuttlecock once before it either hits the ground or goes over
the net.
Equipment required
Badminton Racket: Modern Badminton Rackets are light in weight and don’t weigh more than 100
grams. The frame of the Racket can be made of common metals like steel or aluminium.
Badminton Shoes: A good pair of Badminton Shoes provide good grip, cushioning and some
flexibility at the forefoot.
Shuttlecock: Sixteen feathers fixed in a cork base enveloped in a thin leather sheet make a
shuttlecock. Interestingly, the best Badminton Shuttlecocks are made from feathers from the wing of
a goose.
Wrist Band: If you perspire a lot, you may consider getting a wrist band that prevents your sweat
from flowing to your racket handle.
Head Band: Wear a Head Band if you wear spectacles. It prevents your lenses from getting wet and
also stops the sweat and hair from getting into your eyes while playing.
WHAT IS THE SPORT ABOUT?

Badminton is a racquet sport in which two players (singles) or two pairs

(doubles) face each other on opposite halves of a rectangular court
divided by a red one.

Unlike other racket sports, badminton is not played with a ball, but with
a shuttlecock. Players must hit the shuttlecock with their rackets so that
it crosses the track over the net and falls into the opponent's sector. The
point ends when the steering wheel touches the ground, after passing
the net
When it started?
Badminton is a modern version of a simpler, primitive game called battledore,
which was invented in China and was a simple form of fun in the early years. It was
practiced with 2 wooden paddles and a ball. This was modified so that its flight was
slower, similar to that of the modern "rooster". The current badminton game arose in
India, where it was called Poona, named after a town in the country where it was
originally played. Some British Army officers saw the game in India and took it to
England around 1873. There, the Duke of Beaufort became interested in the game.
Since it was regularly practiced on his Gloucestershire country estate, known as
Badminton, this name continued to be associated with the game.
