Classroom Procedures
Why do we need procedures?
• Procedures are part of life. We follow procedures
when we use a phone, get on the school bus, tie your
shoes and go through the lunch line. There are
procedures for just about EVERYTHING!!!
• The reason we have procedures in life, is so that
people can function in society knowing the acceptable
and efficient ways other people do things.
• There are also procedures in THIS classroom. These
procedures establish our classroom culture. Our
culture will be one of academic emphasis, positive
attitude, cooperative effort and a safe and supportive
environment.
Beginning of Class
■ Please enter the classroom quickly and quietly.
■ Make sure that you have all materials needed such as
your ISN, Science Starter, pencil, and paper.
■ If you need to sharpen your pencil, please get this done
before class starts.
■ Make sure homework assignments are ready to be
checked.
■ After you have entered the room, you may NOT leave the
room again without permission.
■ Go directly to your seat, get out your Science Starter and
be prepared to get started!
When you are tardy . . .
■ Enter quietly.
■ If excused: Bring me your WRITTEN
excuse as soon as you enter the classroom.
■ If unexcused:
Recorded as such YOU WERE IN
■ Have a seat and get to work.
Getting Your Attention
If I say, "Stop talking” or “if you can hear clap twice…”
It means…
■your mouth stops moving,
■all sound stops coming from your area and
■your attention goes to ME.
I will wait for everyone to be
quiet.
I will begin speaking.
Classroom Discussions
■ PLEASE participate.
■ If you know the answer, have comment or question, raise your
hand and wait to be called.
Remember: No calling out.
■ If no one volunteers to answer a question, I will choose a
student. He or she will answer the question.
■ I want to hear what you have to say.
■ Make all questions and comments
relevant to the current discussion.
■ If your question is off the topic,
write it down and ask later.
If work has been completed…
■ If your work is to be turned in, then it should go
to the appropriate basket for your class period,
when it is complete.
■ If you finish early…work on an Early Finisher
activity, a Discovery assignment, AR reading,
etc.
Smart board/Whiteboard
■ I will assign a students to come up and use the
board during class time. If you have not been
called on, you should not be at the boards OR out
of you seat!!!

Use of Phone
■ If you need to use the phone to call
parent/guardian, you must ask for teacher’s
permission first.
When there is drills…

Students will calmly and silently follow the procedures of each

drill.
“I truly believe
in your potential
and I know that you
have the ability to succeed!

Have an awesome year!”
