SIMPLE RECALL TYPE TEST
• Arbitrarily defined as one in
which each item appears as direct
question, a stimulus word or
phrase, or a specific direction
 GUIDELINES:

• The test item should be so worded that

the response is as brief as possible,
preferably a single word, number,
symbol, or very brief phrase.
 GUIDELINES:

• The blanks provided for the

responses should be in a column,
preferably at the right of the items.
• Use a minimal use of textbook
language in wording the language.
• Use the direct-question form for it is
easier to phrase and more natural for
students. These are the interrogative
statements of what, who, when,
where, which and how many/much.

can be scored objectively. It usually
demands a short answer and most
often to test (remembering) key
facts and terms.
GUIDELINES:
• Include in the stem all the qualifying terms or
description in order to arrive at a definite answer.

GUIDELINES:

• Avoid giving the student unwarranted clues to

the desired response.
• Avoid lifting statements directly from the book.
• Guard against the possibility that one item or
part of the test may suggest the correct
response to another item.
GUIDELINES:
• The reponse must be brief as in a word, a symbol, a
figure or simple phrase. The common error is for
the teacher to give a concept, a phrase or symbol
and the students are required to describe or define
it.
