Good Morning Everyone!

I am Miss Annabel.

Lets all sit in a circle.

How did we go?

What did you find easy? What did you find hard?

Are computers smart and can figure

No things out for themselves?

We need to give a simple list of steps, in the

right order, to finish a task. In coding, these
are called algorithms.
Conditionals
What do you think
conditionals are?
Conditionals “if” & “then”
statements
For example, if we told our Robot to
walk straight continuously, it will do
so and keep bumping into things.

But a conditional statement allows us

to us add a condition.

So we can add the code “if there is

something in your way, then stop.”
Some Examples
If you are tired, you go to sleep.

If you are thirsty, you drink something.

If it is raining, you play inside.

Think-
Pair- If you are cold, you wear a coat.

Red Light/Green Light Game
If you are wearing blue, then take one step forward.

If you ate fruit for recess/lunch, take a step forward.

Take one jump forward.

If you ran during recess/lunch, take a step backwards.

Take a step forwards, because you feel like it.

If you put your jumper on during recess, take one step forward.
Red Light/Green Light Game
We give conditionals like this game called Kodable on the iPad.

The aim of Kodable is to correctly direct the character with

simple instructions, like a Programmer would do with a
computer.

Good Morning Everyone.

What is a loop?
Let's do the Loopy dance!
Rules:
You are all now computers and I am the programmer.
This means that you will all have to act out the code that I tell you to do.
Computers, clap your hands. Computers, clap your hands, computers clap
your hands.

Wait a second.. Would that have been easier for me

to say
“Clap your hands four times”?
Ok, let's try the
Loopy dance again!
Just imagine how hard it would be if I needed the
computer to clap 10 times.
Rather than saying it all, we could just get the
computer to use loops and repeat the action 10 times.
For example: Computer, clap your hands 10 times.

That is a loop!

Loopy dance Music Clap. Clap. Clap. Clap.

Rather than saying each action,

how about we say clap four times.

Clap x4

Repeat!

Loopy Lagoon level

The aim of Kodable Loopy Lagoon is to direct the

Fuzz using Loop blocks at certain points.
How did we go?

Can you think of any real life examples of when we use

loops?
Events
Clap

Boom!

Rawwrrr!
The action of the button being
tapped, is an event.

This caused the computer to then

clap.

This is when happens when we code

event commands for computers.

Event Movement Game
This game is like Simon Says.
The aim of the game is to do the correct movement
“When I do this, then you do that.”
When I turn around, then stomp your feet.

When I clap my hands, then you touch your toes.

When I wiggle, then you jump.

What are Events?
An action that causes something to happen.

Why are events used?

So, we don’t have to repeat codes in technology.

Can you think of any more examples for events?

What are some examples of something a Think-
programmer would make? Pair-
What is a Program? Share

A program is an Algorithm that has been coded

into something that can be run by a machine.
