1. What are some different ways to

express numbers and figures?

Numbers and figures can be expressed in several ways. They can be

expressed as percentages; that is how many times something exists
for each one hundred actions or examples. For example, if someone
gets fifty percent in a test, this means that if the test had one hundred
questions they would get fifty of them correct. Alternatively they can
be expressed as fractions ; for instance ¼ (one quarter) means that
something happens/is correct for example only one in four times. So
if a person took a test with one hundred questions and got ¼ of them
correct this means they have answered twenty five questions
correctly.

2. What are the consequences of

mistakes in figures ?

Mistakes in figures can have very serious consequences.

They can lead to incorrect or even dangerous decisions
being made. If a doctor gives a patient the wrong amount
of a drug because the label has the wrong figure on it, the
patient could be harmed or even killed. In business
companies can lose lots of money if they make decisions to
invest in something based on figures that they later
discover had mistakes in them.
