Polygons
Example 1: What is the sum of the interior angles of
dodecagon?

Solution: Dodecagon has 12 sides, n = 12

S = (n -2) x 180°
S = (12 -2) x 180°
S = 1800°
Example 2: Each interior angle of a rectangular polygon is 165°,
how many sides are there in the polygon?

Solution: Since θ is given, then we will use the

formula S = θn, but we need to use S = (n -2) x
180° to get the value of n. first we must equate the
two equation

(n -2) x 180° = θn
(n – 2) x 180° = (165°)n
180° n - 360° = 165° n
(180° - 165°) n = 360°
Example 3: How many diagonals does a pentadecagon
have?
Example 4: One side of a regular octagon is 2. Find the
area.
Example 4: One side of a regular octagon is 2. Find the
area.
Example 5: A dodecagon has a parameter of 36 cm. Find its
area.

Solution
P = x(n)
36 = x (12)
