INTRODUCTION
• Calcutta needs 345 Million Gallons of
water per day and most of it comes from
underground sources whose depletion makes
it subsidence prone.
• To prevent such catastrophe, we must find a
different water source.
• Solution – 150 MGD water treatment plant at
the bank of Ganges.
FEASIBILITY
• Is adequate space available ?
The water treatment plant is to
be located at Baranagar area
occupying 750 000 m2 area on
the western bank of Ganges.
• How accessible the site is ?
The site would be connected to
Belgharia Expressway and BT
road as in the adjacent figure.

A. Labour cost : It should be based on detailed working of labour hours required with prevalling man hour rate.
B. Sub contract cost : Estimate of sub contract cost should be basd on the quantity of work and the rate to be paid to sub contractors in future .
C. Material cost : Here consumption norms including wastage should be the basis and realastic anticipated rate shuld be taken .
Present market rate and any anticipated increase should be considered.
D. Plant cost : Based on schedule of P and M requiremnent the total anticipaated cost of P and M including overtime should be allocated

SAFETY MANAGEMENT
• For safety heath and environment issues we need to create a site specific
plan.
• Check the requirement of different protective equipment and it should be
ensure that the protective equipment are available or not.
• It should be instructed to all the staff and workmen to use the equipments
at work place for their own protection.
• First aid kit with required medicines should be arranges at workplace.
• Place portable fire extinguishers in store and at site and check their
condition.
• Display emergency contact numbers of local Police, Fire and Ambulance.
• Display safety and environment awareness banners written in Hindi and
English.

RISK MANAGEMENT
As a project manager or team member, we manage risk on a daily basis; it’s one of the
most important things we do. If we learn how to apply a systematic risk management
process, and put into action the core 5 risk management process steps, then our projects
will run more smoothly and be a positive experience for everyone involved.
• Step 1: Identify the Risk
We and our team uncover, recognize and describe risks that might affect our project or
its outcomes.
• Step 2: Analyze the risk.
Once risks are identified we determine the likelihood and consequence of each risk. We
develop an understanding of the nature of the risk and its potential to affect project
goals and objectives
• Step 3: Evaluate or Rank the Risk.
We evaluate or rank the risk by determining the risk magnitude, which is the
combination of likelihood and consequence
• Step 4: Treat the Risk.
During this step we assess our highest ranked risks and set out a plan to treat or modify
these risks to achieve acceptable risk levels.
• Step 5: Monitor and Review the risk.
This is the step where we take our Project Risk Register and use it to monitor, track and
review risks.
