special protection through action by IMO because of its significance
for recognized ecological or socio-economic or scientific reasons
and which may be vulnerable to damage by international maritime
activities.

• ecosystems in the Indonesian sea have a unique diversity that is vulnerable to degradation by
shipping activities
• Social culture and economic criteria :
• Indonesian waters are known as amazing tourist attractions. so it is very potential in the
development of tourism. so that the economic side can generate income for local communities
• Scientific and education criteria :
• The diversity of marine life in Indonesia is a living laboratory for research and education

• Request the Lombok Strait as PSSA
• Submitted via 74th Marine Environment Protection
Committee (MEPC) that was held in IMO Headquarters,
London.
• Lombok Strait is one of the ALKI in Indonesia
