Aim of the study:
The aim of the present study is to determine the effect of
sloshing in seismic response of circular and intz type water
tanks for different seismic zones.
Objectives of the study:
• To compute the sloshing wave height of cylindrical and intz
tanks for different seismic zones.
• To calculate the different time periods (Impulsive,
Convective) of selected tanks for different seismic zones.
• To compare the magnitude of Hydrostatic pressures and
Hydrodynamic pressures for cylindrical and intz tanks.
• To evaluate the base moment and total base shear for
different cases.
Methodology:
 The software to be used is SAP 2000.
 The support system selected is Frame-supported system.
 The selected tank types are Circular type and Intz type.
 The capacity and h/D ratio is to be selected as a constant for
both tanks.
 Design of tanks is to be based on IS 1893:2002 (Part-I &
Part-II) and IITK-GSDMA guidelines.
