Strengths / Advantages
Objective since it provides numerical data
The use of statistical techniques facilitates sophisticated
analyses
The numerical data can be analyzed in a quick and easy
way by employing valid random models; findings can be
generalized
Quantitative studies are replicable.
 
Weaknesses / Disadvantages
Requires a large number of respondents because the
larger the sample is, the more statistically accurate the
findings are
It is costly. Since there are more respondents, the
expenses will be greater
The information contextual factors to interpret the
results are ignored. It does not consider the capacity of
the respondents to elaborate further information.
Many information are difficult to gather using structured
research instruments especially on sensitive issues
like pre-marital sex, domestic violence etc.
If not done seriously and correctly, data from
questionnaires may be incomplete and inaccurate.
