PERCEIVED LEVEL OF STRESS IN

ONLINE LEARNING AND THE

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF 3RD
YEARS NURSING STUDENT OF
DAVAO DOCTORS COLLEGE.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
• Stress is very common to the students nowadays, it can be physical, emotional, and mental stress. The
whole of physical, passionate, and mental strains or pressures of a person” is what push implies. Stress
can result from a reaction to a situation in which a person feels threatened or pressured or sometimes
both. Learning and memory can be influenced by stress. Although an ideal level of stretch can upgrade
capacity, as well much push can cause physical and mental wellbeing issues, decrease self-esteem, and
may influence the scholastic execution of the understudies.
• In a global scale, According to Agolla (2009) Stress has become an important topic in academic circles.
Numerous researchers within the field of behavioral science have carried out broad inquire about on
push and its outcomes and concluded that the subject required more attention. Also agreeing to
Krishnan Lal (2013), the understudies nowadays are confronting unused challenges in instruction calling
for a more prominent exertion from students. In expansion, there are overwhelming requests made by
society on understudies to perform different parts, many of which are vague, conflicting, and
unachievable within the show socio-cultural, financial, and bureaucratic settings of our society. Students
in their teens are the ones who are going through the transitional stage, which is the middle of the road
of childhood and adulthood. Stress is accepted to be caused by the different issues that exist such as
issues at school, colleges, budgetary issues, family issues, and issues in their environment, causing
overwhelming stretch on understudies primarily tall school understudies.
• The performance of these constituent acts as an important role in setting academic achievements which
are associated to what people value in experiencing stress since academic works or activities are
inevitable in the school setting. Even those who are rich, physically beautiful or happy may also
experience this kind of stress. Stress usually happen when there are too many homeworks and activities
to do also when there is an exam or quizzes. Stress can affect an emotional physical and mental health
especially our behaviour. In the field of education, the most common sources of stress that may read to
fear and anxiety to students. In a local scale, as per Cuerpo J. (2017) stretch is a main consideration on
how a kid performs scholastically. An examination done in 2000 on learning hypotheses expresses that
pressure can upgrade learning capacity, yet a lot of it could prompt physical and emotional well-being
issues and the scholastic accomplishment of a youngster is imperiled.
• Studying in the next instruction institution can be unpleasant, especially for worldwide
understudies, who take off their domestic to ponder in another country. Unlike native
understudies, worldwide understudies ought to create bicultural competence, as they
maintain they possess values whereas altering to the down to earth, interpersonal, and
enthusiastic challenges experienced within the host country (Noh & Kaspar, 2003; Poyrazli &
Grahame, 2007; Musgrave-Marquart, Bromly, & Dalley, 1997). Most students are youthful
grown-ups who are within the handle of creating individual characteristics and identity in
arrange to operate with more noteworthy mental and monetary autonomy (Furnham, 2004).
Such requests are more complex for universal understudies, who need to adjust to modern
culture, dialect, scholastic, and social environment. Taking into thought the significance of
universal understudies, it is essential to assess their alteration to college life and to compare
their encounters with those of the household students. Stress amid nursing instruction and
preparation has been documented. Although the body of proof with respect to stretch
among understudy medical attendants is growing over the world, there's small within the
writing surveying push among Filipino nursing understudies selected in Aim: The display
considers investigated the level of stretch, stressors, and physio-psycho-social reactions to
push among Filipino understudy medical attendants in a government nursing school. Method
and Fabric: A graphic plan was adopted in this study. A add up to 61 understudies who were
selected within the nursing program were taken as consider respondents.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

• This section consists of the relevant information, readings on various literatures and studies which
provide insights to the theoretical and conceptual background of the study. By this related studies it
helps to support and to make sure that this study is reliable.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
• The theory anchored by Rudland was the stress paradox: how stress can be good for learning. We first describe
how psychology, education, and studies in the occupation have used the broad term “stress” and then how
this term has been narrowed by some to equate with an outcome and further narrowed to describe a negative
outcome, distress. We also consider other research that suggests stress may be positive, with particular
emphasis on how the custom framing of stress as inevitably bad masks the beneficial aspects of challenging
situations. Ultimately rejecting the myth that demonizes stress, we take a broader view of “stress” as
something that can have either positive or negative outcomes. We reject the idea that stress is always to be
avoided and propose a hypothetical learning pathway that positions stress as a necessary part of learning: a
“stressor” prompts learning; moderation of the impact of the stressor occurs with a realization of the stress
experienced by the learner and finishes with how the stress is “actualized” in respect to the learning that has
taken place and the associated effect of the learning. We propose a number of strategies that health
professional educators may consider in order to enhance this learning pathway.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The researchers will use the quantitative correlational design that is one of the non-
experimental research. According to (Porter & Carter, 2020), the aim of quantitative research is
to investigate, count or classify, and construct statistical models and figures to explain the
observation. A correlational research study not only describes what exists between variables,
but systematically investigates relationships between two or more variables of interest. This
study shows the correlation between perceived level of stress in online learning of 3rd year
nursing student and academic performance.
SETTING
The study will be conducted at Davao Doctors College, which is located in General Malvar Street,
Poblacion District, Davao City. Davao Doctors College (DDC), formerly known as the Davao
Doctors Hospital School of Nursing (DDHSN), was the brainchild of a group of medical doctors in
