B.A. in 1976 from the Bellarmine College in Louisville, Kentucky, with a Kentucky State Secondary Teaching Certificate M. A. in 1978 from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky Ph.D. in 1981 in the area of partial differential equations from the University of Kentucky, Lexington. From 1981-87, she was an Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) from 1987-92 an Associate Professor at UTK. 1992, she has been a Full Professor at the UTK.
